January 20 - beach clean at Tregonhawke beach, Whitsand Bay
Our next beach clean will be on Sunday Jan 20 on Tregonhawke Main beach. There are huge banks of weed there, with lots of small pieces of rope, net, polystyrene etc. all tangled up in them. We do have gloves but if you have your own please bring them - we seem to lose quite a few pairs on every beach clean so we don't have as many as we once did! Meet at the top of the path down to the Cliff Top cafe at 10.30 to collect your pickers, bags etc.
January 24 - Boston Tea Party marine plastic art show opening event
Boston Tea Party Plymouth & Rame Peninsula Beach Care present 'Curated Chaos', an exhibition of local artists highlighting the chaotic nature of plastic in our oceans, through a collection of art made from ocean waste.
Come along to meet the artists and find out more about their work at the Boston Tea Party cafe on Plymouth's Barbican, 6pm to 9pm.
February 9 - fundraising coffee morning
Our next coffee morning is on 9 February at the Institute (clock tower in Kingsand), 10am to 12 noon. Please do come along for a tea/ coffee and delicious cakes, raffle and bric-a-brac. Are you able to help out on stall? If yes please let us know. Any donations of raffle prizes, cakes or (good) bric-a-brac very much appreciated!
February 16 and 17 - Forgotten Corner Film Festival
Very exciting news.... our two-day environmental film festival is getting closer! Keep your eyes peeled for our email coming out next week with the full programme and information for how to buy a ticket. You can also stay up to date with the preparations by following the Forgotten Corner Film Festival's page on Facebook.
The festival, to be held on February 16 and 17 in Kingsand and Millbrook, will feature a wide selection of films, ranging from low-budget local productions to game-changing international ones. There will also be inspirational talks, music, information about environmental initiatives taking place locally, a 'junk food' lunch from Café Abundance and even a sound bath.
The event will help raise funds for RPBC as well as the Old Ship social housing project in Cawsand and the Joy Rescue project, a Kenyan NGO working to support low income families.
